1. Reply to this post with 'Icons!', and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will - allegedly - create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
BMC - Cloisters: An old photo of the Cloisters, the interior courtyard of Thomas Hall at my alma mater, Bryn Mawr College. Hanging out there just added to the "we all live in a castle" vibe that Bryn Mawr often gives off. One of my oldest icons; I use it for posts about BMC, higher learning, and architecture.
quote - flamethrower: I believe the quote comes from a Discworld novel (a series that I've read a few books from and always mean to read more but keep not getting around to it; there are just so many of them). Ganked from book_icons a long time ago, because a) it so perfectly encapsulates the frustrations that go along with life in the modern world and b) it made me laugh. Often used in conjunction with the "grr argh" tag.
quote - eliot hollow men: Also found on book_icons, which I highly recommend as a source of icons. "The Hollow Men" is one of my favorite poems, and I find the juxtaposition of colors, text, and font to work really well together. I use it kind of randomly -- moody posts, thoughtful posts, the occasional post related to poetry.
FFX - lulu and shiva: One of my favorite icons by Dagas, from a series she made pairing all the members of Yuna's party with an aeon. I think this combination is one of the most apt, and I love the imagery of it: Lulu the Ice Queen, Shiva the Ice Goddess.
book - key: Picked up during an icon-shopping spree when I realized that I only had two book/reading related icons. I like the idea of reading and words as the key to knowledge. Sometimes I also use it for posts about writing.
