This data is from the UK but I'd bet the situation here is similar. Most interesting I think is that the gender gap is closing, and that over 50% of survey respondents age 36 to 50 play videogames. That number will only go up, I think.
I found this, as I do so many interesting tidbits, on a library blog. Tech savvy librarians are taking a close look at games and gamers, to the point where some are actually creating video game collections (see here and here -- it's worth going forward the next few days on the second one.) Interesting times.
